RECITAL - MUSICAL RE-SETTING OF THE FILM DOGTOOTH

Canine affiche.jpeg

Dogtooth is the second feature film by Greek director Yorgos Lanthimos .

In a context where Greece experienced a dictatorial regime some forty years earlier, Canine explores through the "pater familias" a symbolic parallel between family dependencies and the alienation of totalitarian systems.

The postulates are developed with such assurance that they end up convincing us, if not of reality, at least of the accuracy of what we see.

By veering towards instability and absurdity, Dogtooth becomes a destabilizing film that constantly teeters between terror and comedy. The form adopted is that of a social fable, almost peaceful, whose lightness only serves to highlight the horror of its subject matter. Dogtooth, in a way, depicts the hell of a " paradise that is too perfect ."

This creative work is an exercise in setting to music an existing film, which is part of a research project on moral violence in subversive cinema since 1975.
